The Doughertys are volunteers for CCI
They are caretakers for "Lorraine" a 5 year old golden retriever who's puppies are specially bred to be trained as service dogs. During the last 10 years, the Doughertys have had the joy of birthing 27 puppies who grew up to be service dogs. CCI is a non-profit organization that provides trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities (other than blindness).

Service teams provide dogs for people in wheelchairs. Skilled Companion teams provide dogs for people with physical, emotional or developmental disabilities. Facility teams work as rehabilitation professionals. Hearing Teams provide service dogs for deaf or heard of hearing. There are several ways you can help out, such as raising and training puppies or providing care for a breeder dog. Please search for "Canine Companions for Independence" on the Internet and find out more about this wonderful service.
